What Causes You Stress in Running Your Nonprofit?

January 30, 2013

What are your top three areas that cause you or have caused you stress in running your nonprofit? I am interested in gathering information about your stress points so I can write a blog series, newsletter articles, provides tips, design workshops and just better understand your needs. Let me get the ball rolling:

My nonprofit clients have had the following stress triggers:

  1. Finding Suitable Board of Directors
  2. Obtaining Initial Funding to Start Operations
  3. Finding a location to run programs at little or no cost

Wishing your productivity and prosperity,

I am an officer in several Toastmasters clubs. We are non-profits. Finding free or low cost meeting locations for our meetings is a huge stressor. I would be very interested in information on that.

I directed six different non profits in different issue areas over the years. Continuing funding once initial grants ran out was always major stressor. Maintenance isn’t sexy to a lot of funders.

Kim, that would be a great resource. I was lucky enough one day to meet a lady starting a non-profit group home. I was combining my furniture with my mothers and had a whole house of furniture to donate. We were both blessed that day. – Maggie
